If you've ever paid attention to the background in a lot of the pictures, you might notice how the house has changed over the years.  You might have noticed the colour in the kitchen change from drab beige wallpaper to stark white to bright orange.  That's because my house has been in a perpetual state of renovation.

Since I moved into my house in 1999, I've pretty much gutted it completely and renovated it.  Before I started, I had no idea I had any talent when it came to home renovation, but now I can say I'm a decent plumber, electrician, ceramic tile installer, cabinet installer, designer and painter.  I must have picked up my skills from my dad, who did the same thing to my childhood home.

It all started when I took possession of the place.  I had a month before I actually had to move in, so me and my dad and my girlfriend at the time replaced all the windows, sanded and refinished all the hardwood floors, stripped all the wallpaper (and there was a LOT) and painted.  My first solo attempt at home improvement was to install some wall sconce lighting in the living room, which had no permanent lighting whatsoever.  That went well enough, so I tried my hand at tiling a small area of floor by the front door. That worked out OK too.

From there on in, I took on bigger and bigger projects, finally culminating with the kitchen and bathroom.  Here's a tour of the before and after of each major room.
