Portofino, Italy

Portofino is a very expensive town compared to the towns of Cinque Terre. My first clue was the Cartier diamond store I passed as I walked in. It is a very attractive town. The buidings are charming. Expensive yachts crowd the harbour and tourists are EVERYWHERE!

I didn't realize it at the time, but I have several more paintings at home of Portofino. Lynn pointed this out to me when I got home. Yep, I'm real observant.

A standard, boring shot: "Here's me sitting..."

More gorgeous vistas

The paint scheme of the buildings gave me ideas for my own place.

I finally found the same street scene as my painting. I realized that the painter doesn't have to include the tourist hordes in his paintings.

I returned to Cinque Terre in the afternoon and rented a sea kayak for a few hours. I paddled along the cliffs, exploring small caves and waterfalls. I returned to meet up with Anthony for dinner and to make plans for the next stop on the tour: Florence, Italy.

We stumbled on these intricate designs made with flower petals in the street. While eating dinner (yet another "Best damn meal I've ever eaten"), a large procession of worshippers walked by, gingerly avoiding the flower petal designs.

Too damn early the next day, Anthony and I caught the first train to Florence!!!
