Once you've had your fill of Moroccan culture, its time to head home. Again, the night train is your best bet.

Follow these easy steps to get yourself out of Morocco unscathed.

Getting Back from Marrakesh

  1. Get a taxi to the train station. By now, you should be well-versed in the art of haggling.
  2. Book yourself a sleeper back to Tangiers. Click here for the latest schedule.
  3. Get on the train. Sleep.
  4. Once in Tangiers, take a taxi back to the ferry terminal. You should already have your return ticket. Click here for an up-to-date ferry schedule.
  5. Walk up the stairs to the ferry terminal. Avoid anybody who approaches you with an official looking badge. They will offer help or demand your passport or ticket. DO NOT give them ANYTHING. You don't need their "help". Look for a customs counter. Get your passport stamped here. Have your customs form ready (remember the ones you filled out in Algeciras?).
  6. Leave the terminal and walk to the ferry.
  7. Get on the ferry for the 2 1/2 hour trip. Note that the time in Spain is two hours ahead of Morocco. You'll lose half your day just by crossing the strait.
  8. Once in Spain, you'll have to go through customs once more.
  9. You're back on European soil!
